WHAT IS EMW BLOCK PARTY?

BLOCK PARTY is EMW Bookstore’s first annual fundraiser! Over the past 10 years, countless people have supported EMW Bookstore in so many ways, and we want to give back to them and show our appreciation! For the first time ever, we are showcasing all of our EMW features at once, from the popular East Meets Words to our newest program, Street Bio!

Block Party will be held on Saturday, September 26th from 1pm to 12am. Our schedule can be found on the Block Party home page.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND EMW BLOCK PARTY?

Day programming at Aeronaut Brewery, Co. and Brooklyn Boulders is free to attend. The Evening Showcase at Brooklyn Boulders costs $25.00 at minimum. If you would like to attend the Evening Showcase, please click the button below to purchase your ticket.

WHAT IS THE RE-ENTRY POLICY?

There is a re-entry policy only for ticketed performances in the evening. If you bought your ticket, your hand will be stamped upon check in, which will allow you to re-enter Brooklyn Boulders for the Evening Showcase. There is no re-entry policy for day programming at Aeronaut Brewery, Co. and Brooklyn Boulders, which are free to attend.

If you plan to attend programming at Brooklyn Boulders, you must sign a waiver to enter the venue. The waiver can be signed in advance online, or in person at the Ticket Desk. If you do not sign the waiver, you will not be let inside Brooklyn Boulders, no exceptions made.

IS BLOCK PARTY ALL AGES?

No. You must be at least 18+ years of age to enter Aeronaut Brewery, Co. and Brooklyn Boulders, and 21+ to purchase and consume alcohol at Aeronaut Brewery, Co. We will provide wristbands for those who are 18+.

WILL THERE BE ALCOHOL?

Aeronaut has graciously agreed to serve alcohol all day and all night to those of legal age at Block Party. Please do not bring outside beverages.

IS EMW BLOCK PARTY ACCESSIBLE?

Both Aeronaut Brewery, Co. and Brooklyn Boulders are wheelchair accessible. Their restrooms are not gender-neutral. Brooklyn Boulders is bicycle-friendly with indoors racks that are available only during day programming. Unfortunately Block Party is not scent free.

HOW DO I GET TO BLOCK PARTY?

By the T. Take the Red Line towards Alewife, and disembark at Porter. Walk for approx. 20 minutes: Head southeast on Somerville Ave toward Acadia Park. Turn right onto Properzi Way. Continue onto Tyler St and destination will be on your right.

By the bus. Closest bus lines to EMW Block Party are:

• 83 (towards Rindge Ave via Porter; disembark at Somerville Ave @ Central St and walk)
• 85 (towards Spring Hill via Union Square; disembark at 117 Summer St and walk)
• 86 (towards Sullivan via Harvard; disembark at Washington St @ Calvin St and walk)
• 87 (towards Arlington Center via Davis; disembark at Somerville Ave @ Loring St and walk).

By the car. Please note: Street parking is limited.

Via I-93 N:

1. Take Exit 29 toward Somerville/Medford.
2. Merge onto MA-38 N.
3. Keep right to stay on MA-38 N.
4. Turn left onto Temple St.
5. Turn right onto Broadway.
6. Turn left onto School St.
7. Turn right onto Somerville Ave.
8. Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Dane St.
9. Turn right onto Tyler St. Destination will be on the left.

Via I-90 E:

1. Take Exit 18 on the left toward Cambridge.
2. Slight right onto Cambridge St.
3. Continue onto River St.
